Wales kept their hopes of reaching next year's World Cup well and truly alive as late goals from Aaron Ramsey and Hal Robson-Kanu earned Chris Coleman's men a 2-0 win over Moldova in Chisinau.
Chief football writer Chris Wathan rates the Wales players from the match at the Zimbru Stadium...
WAYNE HENNESSEY
Looked off with his distribution but became a hero in a game you didn’t expect him to. Vital saves to stop the shock. 8
CHRIS GUNTER
Did well ensuring Wales weren’t caught on counter and involved in good possession spells but didn’t provide enough quality final balls from flank. 6
JAMES CHESTER
Had a tough evening where he did stay alert and on his toes enough to nick balls away from Moldovan attackers, but didn’t really convince. 6
ASHLEY WILLIAMS (CAPT)
Some drops in concentration but impressed most with his use of the ball, in both short and ling range passing. 7
STAR MAN - BEN DAVIES
Excellent outing pushed back into the left-back role with real attacking intent that helped Wales ask greater questions of stubborn hosts and never once let down defence. 8
JOE ALLEN
Back in the side and back at the heart of things for Wales. Worried to think how Wales would have fared without him given way game went. 8
ANDY KING
Some neat uses of the ball in first-half triangles but couldn’t make more of a mark on match and made way. 6
TOM LAWRENCE
Some driving runs and one confident shot but didn’t do enough before making way for Woodburn. 6
AARON RAMSEY
Ensured he got himself on the ball plenty of times and constantly looked to open up Moldovan defence but never really came off and appeared to be forcing things at times. 6
GARETH BALE
Some flashes of his obvious brilliance but couldn’t deliver like he is capable of. By his own standards, wasn’t quite at it. 6
HAL ROBSON-KANU
Struggled in first half but came alive as Coleman changed things up, with one great turn and a header that finished Woodburn’s cross very well. 7
SUBS:
Ben Woodburn (for Lawrence 60): The teen is the real deal – and proved it once again. 8
Sam Vokes (for King 67): Gave solid extra option at the end. 7
David Edwards (for Robson-Kanu): Solid experience at the death.
