Mongolian artifacts are on display this week at the Chinese Cultural Centre at Ganilau House in Suva.

This is part of the Chinese Embassy’s exhibition week with the theme centred around what Mongolia is most famed for, its vast grassland.

The “Beautiful Grassland, My Sweet Home”-themed exhibition started yesterday and will end on June 27.

The partner for the event is the Inner Mongolia autonomous region of Northern China.

The Chinese Embassy officially started its exhibition week yesterday.

The theme came about when the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China held its “China Week,” therefore, this year’s theme is “Inheritance and Innovation: Creative Cultural Products Exhibition.”

A delegation from Inner Mongolia have brought their creative achievements and rich culture on display. They have focused on creative products and a photo exhibition.

The Minister of Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar opened the exhibition saying: “If we let our culture and traditions die, I believe our identities will also be lost along the way.

“Artifacts, food, dances, music, dressing, language is something that keeps us connected to our past.

“It is important that we keep a tight hold on our culture and this week-long exhibition of arts and artifacts coming all the way from Mongolia to Fiji is an indication of how dearly we value our culture and traditions.”

Ms Akbar said exhibitions as such helped grow various cultural exchanges between China and Fiji.

“I believe working in unity is the strongest way to build a sustainable future in any nation,” she said.
