Summer Concert Tour announces new artists

Greenstone Entertainment, promoters of the upcoming sold out Whitianga Summer Concert Tour, have today confirmed some new artists as part of their January 2018 line-up.

“Due to a family illness, George Thorogood and The Destroyers will be unable to perform at the upcoming Summer Concert Tour. The Summer Concert Tour will proceed as planned. We sincerely appreciate the support of our loyal fans during this difficult time,” says George Thorogood and The Destroyers management.

“We send our best wishes to George Thorogood and The Destroyers and family at this time and completely understand that family must come first. We’d like to reassure our fans that the Summer Concert Tour will go ahead as planned featuring Colin Hay of Men At Work fame and Alanis Morissette," says Amanda Calvert, Greenstone Entertainment CEO.

In addition, Greenstone Entertainment are pleased to announce that taking the place of George Thorogood and The Destroyers will be The Orchestra starring former members of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO).

"When asked for input from fans on who they’d like to see, these performers have been right up the list and on Greenstone’s radar for some time. This change of circumstances has enabled us to include them in the 2018 line up as opposed to future years," says Ms Calvert.

Members of The Orchestra include Mik Kaminski “The Blue Violin” and Louis Clark “Keyboards and Arrangements” formerly from the original ELO of the 70’s and 80’s. Their show will feature all of those instantly recognisable hits including Telephone Line, which spent 20 weeks in the NZ Charts and peaked at number one, along with other NZ Top 10 chart toppers, Don’t Bring Me Down, Evil Woman, and Livin’ Thing.

“We’re also pleased to confirm an additional international act for the three show tour, Santa Barbara-born and now Nashville-based band, Fairground Saints. We’re sure concert goers will find the band’s unique California country sound, layered three part harmonies, and solid musicianship nothing short of impressive. This also means concert goers will now experience four international artists at each concert,” says Ms Calvert.

With its unique afternoon atmosphere, the concerts will take place in the amazing summer holiday locations of Queenstown on 20 January, Taupo on 27 January and Whitianga on 28 January.

Free shuttle bus service

There will be also be free continuous shuttle bus service to and from the event for everyone who has a ticket to the concert.

We are recommending people plan to take the free bus service closest to where they are staying to avoid traffic jams and delays getting to and from the venue.

The free bus shuttle service will be operating from Brophy's Beach, Buffalo Beach Reserve, The Wharf, outside the Information Centre on Albert Street and Mercury Bay Area School to the Whitianga Waterways between 9am - 12pm, and then after the event from 5pm - 8pm.
