The Eurovision 2025 season is now in full swing and no doubt fans will have the songs from this year’s contest on repeat until we crown a winner in May. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests – they’re still bringing us a lot of new music to enjoy.
Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.
Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.
New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 12 part 2
With so many new songs this week, we’ve split the roundup into two smaller articles. You can find part 1 here.
Gabry Ponte – PENTAPHONIA LAB Vol.1
In amongst his preparations for Eurovision 2025, Gabry Ponte is still busy producing many more dance hits. The Italian DJ has recently shared PENTAPHONIA LAB Vol.1, which includes four electro house bangers to truly get the club bouncing (and not just the Euroclub).
BESS & Käärijä – “Kaistaa”
Finnish singer, and UMK 2022 alum, BESS has released her latest album this week. Included on the LP is a brand new duet alongside Eurovision 2023 runner-up Käärijä. “Kaistaa” (“Lane”) is a full-throttle track that is sure to get your engines revving.
In the lyrics, BESS and Käärijä sing of the pressure to settle down and start a family as you get older. But, they’re not ready to be tied down and are forging their own path. Instead, the pair want to live like it’s Saturday everyday: “I’m driving in my own lane / While there’s still time / While there’s still gas in my veins / You can hop on board / Or you can stay sobbing / Thinking about someone else’s worries.”
Sam Ryder – “White Lies”
Sam Ryder returns with the new single “White Lies.” The UK’s Eurovision 2022 star offers up a mid-tempo track that mixes a pop structure with elements of soul and jazz. The lyrics see Ryder coming to the realisation that he’s not truly himself without the support of those around him: “I’m down on my knees / I can’t tell my soul another white lie / Like I could replace your love in no time / Nothing to me / I’m all that I need / Don’t worry my baby I’ll be just fine / Oh, there goes another little white lie / I’ll never believe.”
Conchita Wurst – “Waters Run Deep”
Those who watched Luxembourg Song Contest will already know this song, as Conchita Wurst performed it for the first time at the event. But it’s only now that “Waters Run Deep” is getting its official release. An earlier press release revealed the message behind this latest single from Austria’s Eurovision 2014 winner:
“The song explores the longing for authenticity and connection. But beneath this personal level lies a bold, empowering message – a call for resistance and resilience in a world that prioritises simplicity over truth. The refrain ‘These waters run deep’ becomes a mantra against the shift to the right and pleads for complexity and steadfastness against fear and oppression. With impressive symbolism of flames and deep waters, the song becomes an anthem for transformation – an appeal to free oneself from constraints, to recognise one’s true self and to stand up for transparency and solidarity.”
Mae Muller – “Breakaway”
“Nearly lost my mind / Stayed up every night / There’s so many things that I would take back […] Tapping out of the limelight / Had to breakaway.”
Mae Muller has spent a year out of the spotlight. But the Eurovision 2023 contestant is now returning to music as an independent artist. This new era for the British singer begins with the song “Breakaway.” An electronic pop track, Mae discusses her decision to step away and refocus herself. She goes into more detail on Instagram:
“i have never felt so free and happy in a song before, and as an independent artist !!! i made this song with @hmichelsen and it was just me and him in the studio, i had no idea what i wanted to write that day i just knew i needed the weight in my chest to subside, so i just let everything pour out and we ended up with one of my favourite songs in the world and the start of this new era. thank you all so much for sticking by me, it means the world, i love you, i love music, it’s all i want to do, forever.”
S10 – Mijn Haren Ruiken Naar Vuur
After months of build-up, it’s finally here. Mijn Haren Ruiken Naar Vuur (My Hair Smells Like Fire) is S10’s new album, featuring all the standout singles the Dutch star has shared recently. There are still plenty of new tracks as well from the Eurovision 2022 alumna. So dive into a stunningly crafted Nederhop record.
Alessandra – “Language Of Love”
Alessandra has tried singing in both English and Italian, but now she’s switching to the “Language Of Love.” The Norwegian singer is coming to terms with the end of a relationship. Alessandra made the decision to walk away, but that doesn’t make it any easier on her heart: “I don’t know what else to do or say / How can one translate? / When speaking straight from the heart / In the language of love.”
Sonically, this latest single from the Eurovision 2023 star is a pop number with a Mediterranean flavour to it.
Charlotte Perrelli and family – Vaggvisor med Perrelli
Whilst this LP is credited to Charlotte Perrelli, the Eurovision 1999 gold medallist isn’t the only voice you’ll hear on the record. Vaggvisor med Perrelli is a collection of lullabies that the Swedish singer has recorded alongside her four children — Angelo, Alvin, Adrian, and Alessio.
There’s a mixed selection of lullabies. Charlotte has chosen some from her childhood that her mother used to sing to her. But there are also newer ones that her four boys have enjoyed over the years.
Montaigne – “swim back”
The latest single from Montaigne’s upcoming album is “swim back.” It’s a gentle offering with soft orchestral accompaniment. In the lyrics, Australia’s Eurovision 2021 representative sings about breaking away from the current that keeps pushing her back to a certain individual: “Don’t know where I belong / But it’s not to you / Treading water / Out in the blue / When I’m stranded / How do / I swim back to me / And not to you?”
Lordi – Limited Deadition
Grab your monster fangs and get ready to rock out. Lordi have released their 19th studio album, titled Limited Deadition. There are 11 songs on the LP, including recent singles “Syntax Terror,” “Hellizbeth,” and “Retropolis.”
The Finnish band’s metal heritage is of course very present. But, the Eurovision 2006 champions have also fused in an ’80s glam-rock feel throughout the record.
iolanda & Carolina Deslandes – “Tento Na Língua”
Eurovision 2024 star, ioalnda, has teamed up with fellow Portuguese singer, Carolina Deslandes. The duo present “Tento Na Língua” — “Watch My Tongue.”
The mid-tempo track is about how women are often made to feel like they need to watch what they say and to present in a more demure and restrained way. However, iolanda and Carolina have no plans to do this and hope other women will also feel powerful enough to speak their mind: “Look how beautiful, so full of grace / The woman who sways as she leaves the house / Doesn’t need anyone, doesn’t need anything […] Oh, if I were reserved / Oh, if I were thinner / Oh, if I were quieter / Or had a mind to watch my tongue.”
Vlado Kalember, Alka Vuica & Jimmy – “Daj da se opet nađemo”
Friendships can sometimes be like ships sailing past each other — we enjoy time together before eventually heading our separate ways. But, it’s always nice to find the opportunity to meet and catch up. That’s exactly what three Croatian singers have done through “Daj da se opet nađemo” (“Let’s see each other again”).
Vlado Kalember, who represented Yugoslavia in 1984, has reunited with Alka Viuca and Jimmy for a good laugh and chinwag. The trio have produced a cheery retro tune that inspires others of their age group to do the same: “Let’s see each other again / To sing our songs / Let’s meet / As together like we used to / My generation.”
Aksel Kankaanranta – “Elää ikuisesti”
“What you can’t see is not there / I run away from my fears and hide / When we close our eyes / We could live forever”
Aksel Kankaanranta returns with the single “Elää ikuisesti,” which translates in English as “Live Forever.” The song is a steady soft rock number that pairs Aksel’s voice with a guitar and drum accompaniment. In a post on Instagram, Finland’s Eurovision 2020 entrant went into more detail behind the meaning of the song:
“Closing our eyes means a lot to me, it’s probably the clearest way for me to focus and especially when singing it happens so automatically that I have to consciously think that I can keep my eyes open, since eye contact is a very human way of creating a connection with another person. With my eyes closed I can’t see anything, only black. There’s something timeless about it, it feels like I’m floating in the in-between of everything possible and I’m present in that very moment, forever. This song is about death and how difficult it is to accept it. I would just like to stay in that in-between, where we live forever, whether it’s in memories or just in that bottomless darkness. P.S I don’t really want to live forever, everything has to end in time, otherwise what would be the point of living?”
Laura Tesoro & Anna Winkin – “Silverline (lean on me)”
Lift Me Up is a new Belgian TV show that sees established stars collaborate with aspiring singers to (figuratively and literally) lift them up and boost their profile. The winning duet came from Anna Winkin and Eurovision 2016 star Laura Tesoro.
“Silverline (lean on me)” is a multi-lingual French and English pop ballad. Laura and Anna sing about supporting each other through difficult times: “You and me facing the odds / Both of our hearts / Guiding a way to the light / If you come crashing down / I’ll be there every time / Lean on me / By the Silverline.”
Kristian Kostov – “Az Sum Ti”
“We remain strangers / But we know that it is not over yet and / As soon as we touch, it burns / And we still need each other / We fall asleep next to each other, but / As soon as we hug, it hurts / I am you.”
To mark his 25th birthday, Kristian Kostov dropped “Az Sum Ti” (“I Am You”). It’s the first time in nine years that the he’s sung in his native Bulgarian language. The Eurovision 2017 runner-up delivers a dark pop ballad that transports the listener into his world. Writing about the project on social media, Kostov noted:
“Az Sum Ti is a project that means a lot to me – a project that I put my heart and soul into. A complete audio-visual experience that transports a person to a world of depth, courage and boundlessness. Everything around it happened very naturally – almost like something predetermined. I had a good feeling from the very beginning and wanted to create a song that I was 1000% sure of. And, yes, we did it!”
