She's the artist known the world over for her mega hit I Try and you won't need to go to an arena or concert venue to see Macy Gray in Newcastle later this year, as the globally famous music icon will be performing at a bar in town, which has a reputation for staging some fantastic gigs.

It was back at the end of 1999 that American star Macy exploded in a big way when I Try took the world by storm, with the track peaking at number 6 in the UK and staying in the top 40 for months on ends, as it topped the charts in the likes of Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. The song was taken from Macy's debut album On How Life Is, which went four times platinum in the UK, selling more than 1.2 million copies to date and also included top 20 follow up single Still.

Other songs from Macy's back catalogue include Do Something and Why Didn't You Call Me and, over the last quarter of a century, she has sold in excess of 25 million worldwide, meaning her performance at Pilgrim in Newcastle city centre ion Thursday, June 26, is sure to be a big draw. Since opening in the former home of the hugely popular Hoochie Coochie club earlier this yer, Pilgrim has hosted the MOBOs Unsigned showcase, ahead of the awards ceremony at the Utilita Arena and just last week welcomed It's Raining Men legends The Weather Girls.

Standards tickets for Macy's Newcastle show are priced at £62 are already flying out, while there is also the option to pay £201 for a VIP Meet and Greet, or get some of your mates together and pay £583 for a VIP booth for six people, which includes the best seat in the house and a welcome drink.

Macy was on UK soil last year to film the latest series of The Masked Singer, with her throwing the ITV show into 'chaos' when she walked off stage following her elimination from the show, before being talked into returning to give a farewell performance.
