I See You, the 2019 horror film starring Helen Hunt, is currently Netflix’s #1 movie this week, and for good reason. The creepy flick about a family that’s terrorized by an unseen force is full of solid performances and twisty surprises throughout that shake up the entire plot of the movie. The suburban, fictional town of Edgecliff, with its woodsy backdrop, and the stunning use of a big house on a lake add a layer of creepiness to the thriller, making audiences wonder where, exactly, I See You was filmed.

Where was I See You filmed?

I See You was filmed all the way back in 2018 (a simpler, pre-pandemic time! Remember those days?) throughout Northeast Ohio. At the beginning of the film, Chagrin Falls, a village in Cuyahoga County, is used for establishing shots to set the scene of the film.

The home where Hunt’s character Jackie lives with her family is a real home located on Edgewater Drive in Lakewood, Ohio, which is on the southern shore of Lake Erie. Notable for its historic streetcars, the town is a suburb of Cleveland.

A couple of other local landmarks that appear in the film are Linwood Park, in Vermillion, Ohio, and Sirna’s Farm in Auburn, OH.

One of the film’s producers, Matt Waldeck, hails from Ohio and said that he insisted on the Lake Erie location to make the film’s setting more convincing. “[Helen Hunt] originally wanted to film in California but I thought it would be much more authentic to shoot at a real house on the lake,” he told Cleveland Magazine back in 2019. Clearly that bet paid off.
